Introduction to Cityville on Facebook - Associated Content

If you have a Facebook account, you are probably at least slightly familiar with Zynga, the publisher of nearly all of the most popular game applications for Facebook. Even if you don't recognize the name of the  publisher, it is almost certain that you have played or seen ads for Farmville, Mafia Wars,Frontierville, or one of the many other Facebook applications made by Zynga.

Near the end of 2010, Zynga added a new game to the already extensive library of games called Cityville. Cityville is a game that combines some of the farming game play elements found in Farmville or Frontierville with city building elements similar to Sim City. This simple premise proved surprisingly popular and in just a short time Cityville had more active players than Farmville, which previously held the record for most active players.

Despite a simple premise, Cityville is actually one of the most complex games Zynga has ever produced, due to the variety of game play elements it utilizes. The game features two different types of building resources, a limited energy bar, and real time events. In addition, real life friends play a critical role in your ability to progress throughout the game. If this seems like an interesting game to you, the following introduction should help you get started playing quickly.

Resources - There are four resources in this game: coins, goods, population, and energy. Coins are the one resource that you have an unlimited supply of. Goods are limited by your storage space, population is limited by your maximum population, and energy is limited by your level. Storage space and maximum population can be increased by purchasing specific buildings with coins, though you will also need assistance from your real life friends in order to increase your maximum population.
